Religion, Living With Parents In A 'Cult'.

So I know I said once a week but better early than late right? yeah I thought I should write something as I got more reads than I thought I would on the last post and my parents are out on ministry (knocking on peoples doors trying to get them to join the their 'church'). This is just a little of what I think, a ten minute thing. By the way these are only my opinions so don't get all worked up if you disagree, okay.

I used to be a  Jehovas Witness for quite some time, until I was around 14 and before that I was a Mormon for 3 years (almost got baptized, glad I dodged that bullet) I have a Quran and various Bibles so although I may not be the most well versed. I generally know what Im on about. So Im going to write a little about my views on religion , why I am atheist and what its like living with my parents.

"Faith means not wanting to know what is true" a quote by one of my favorite German philosophers Nietzsche who had a great mind and an even better mustache. Anyway, I digress, what he is saying is true, when you think about it having faith literally believing in something which is likely to be false. The fact is religion is man made, all babies are atheists? until they parents force their little minds to believe in some religion, not only that, its all a matter of luck? do you really think your 'God' would rest your eternal happiness on luck?

What do I mean 'luck' well, if you were born in Pakistan chances are you'd be a Muslim, if you were born in Nepal chances are you'd be a Buddhist, if you were born in  USA chances are you'd be a Christian and so on and so forth. You did not choose your religion ahaha your parents did, your surrounding did, your country did. Hitler once said (wait, see where Im going with this) "Give me the boy until the age of 7 and I will give you the man" great quote, brilliant quote and it sums up religion.

Not only that but religion has caused more pain and suffering than anything else and just as I dont support war which cause pain and suffering I can not condone what religion has done. Slavery of the Jews, women, Black people and many more the bible its self explains how you should beat your slave ahah yeah great right? Wars, do I even need to explain? from the beginning of time religion has cause war after war after war, for example; The Crusades in which almost 3 million died (over 2% of the whole world at that time) The Nigerian civil war death toll 3 million and last but not least The 30 years war coming in at almost 12 million deaths.

Thats enough for now haha so how do I have these beliefs when I live with really religious parents? well I once was blind but now I can see. They go off to Kingdom Hall (church) at least twice a week, nearly all their friends are religious and they do their religious activities around 3 times a week. I just keep quiet to be honest, leave the house as much as possible. Their choices dont bother me what bothers me is now they are brain washing my little brother and sister, they are only 9 and 5 and already know more about "Jehovah" than maths, history or science. They have no choice really.

Okay Im off, but one last thing. Religion is just like believing Father Christmas but obviously nobody is dumb enough to believe in a man you never see who checks how you behave, rewards you if your good and punishes you if your bad and who can do no wrong. Just because your parents tell you that at a young age its not like you'd believe it. Right?

Cya later.

First Thoughts, Who Is Rhetorical Rousseau?

There will be many post on this blog regarding many subjects from sociology, philosophy, morals, religion, sexism, ethics, war politics and so on. But this is just a quick insight, a snap shot if you will in to me, my personal life and what I'm all about. Now, evidently hardly anybody will see this as it is my first post but I believe it is important as maybe a year from now a couple of you might want to know something about me personally. So:

I am 17, from west Yorkshire England. I am a Mixed race half English half Cuban atheist. I have not quite decided where I stand politically although I do have my views. I come from a working/lower middle class back ground ie; My family has a comfortable house although we do not own it. I enjoy rugby, mma, football and all that lark, have strong views when it comes to morals, ethics and religion. I can be see as pessimistic because I choose not to ignore problems In the world and instead decide to voice my opinions and criticize.

I wouldn't say I was completely "anti religion" yet will not ignore the vast amount of problems it causes. I wouldn't say I was "anti feminism" yet will not ignore the fact that 80% of feminist are delusional men hating shit talkers. I wouldn't say I was totally and completely "anti war" (although I might as well be) yet I will not ignore the fact that 99% of wars cause innocent casualties over things like oil, land, power and weapons.

Well that a bit about me. I will be posting entries every week or so (hopefully) so watch this space aha.

Have a good one or whatever.

Cya.
